As one of Buenos Aires's 47 "Barrios", La Boca is located in the city's south-east near its port. To go there, the most simple is to take a cab from the city center, then you cross the port and his old factories.
La Boca, with its colourful houses and main street - the Caminito - is the most typical and coloured neighborhood of Buenos Aires. It retains a strong European flavour, with many of its early settlers being from the Italian city of Genoa.
The district is a popular destination for tourists visiting Argentina. Other attractions include the "La Ribera theatre", many tango clubs and Italian taverns, as well as La Bombonera, home of Boca Juniors, one of South America's top football clubs.
The "Barrio" developed itself at the end of the XIX century beside the Riachuelo river. Located in a windy area, it knew different wave of immigrants coming from Europe and attracted by the port's activities. Today Bolivians and paraguyans replace Italians immigrants and the port activities aren't what they were in the past.
